Laingholm beach NZ after a trying day, but nice weather

More sunny spring weather here, settled and hot with a nice breeze most of the day, then clouds rolling in, in late afternoon when I took these shots at low tide at my local beach. It felt like it might turn towards rain, but it hasn't, and the forecast's clear for Sunday as well. About 20°C at the warmest today - I need to roust out some summer dresses. Good thing it was fine, as I spent a chunk of the day dealing with my car breaking down and needing to be towed to my local mechanic. Doing that in the rain would have been more of a hassle.

Laingholm beach, tide out, a hill covered in native bush to the left.

Laingholm beach, tide out, a white boat high and dry on the right, bush behind.

Heh. 20C and summer dresses just seems wrong - 20C is still cool enough for light jackets to me! But my friends from Tassie tend to feel the same way as you, while my friends from Brisbane think 20C is the height of winter.

I am intrigued by the grass growing so close to the shore. Is this a beach? Or is it freshwater of some kind? I can see an 'other side' on the horizon of the body of water, so it's not seaside as I originally assumed?

Yeah, we have some seaside grasses that survive the wind and the salt. But I think there's more succulent-type plants or groundcovers which they encourage to keep erosion to a minimum. And couch grass which basically manages to grow EVERYWHERE.
