Waterproof boots are only sold in wintertime, to protect feet from snow. For a long time, I didn't have anything waterproof that came up past my ankles, which meant that in deep snow or heavy street flooding I had to deal with getting soaked up to my knees. Last winter I finally managed to get a pair of snow boots that come up to mid-calf. But these are actually men's boots - my women's shoe size is equivalent to a smallish man's size. My husband needed a new pair of galoshes, so we went to the Army/Navy store, and the salesperson explained how some of their boots might fit a larger woman like me. All that matters is that when we had a couple of inches of snow, my feet stayed dry and warm!
